Some people refer to Paneer as Cottage cheese but I think they both have a different consistency, so I’ll stick to say paneer as paneer 😉Paneer is an all-time favorite Indian food, it can be used in entrees, main course or even Indian sweets!
It’s my all-time favorite too but I really think it tastes so much better when prepared at home…now let’s talk about its nutritional value :Paneer is a dairy product made by curdling cows milk and its quite high in protein and low in carbs, making it the right choice if you want to eat something healthy yet filling. “100 grams of cottage cheese contains 11 gm of protein “.It’s even packed with Calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
Now, let’s learn how to prepare Paneer at home :
Ingredients: – Cows milk (Full cream)- you can take 1 or 2 liters or more depending on how much paneer you wanna make… roughly speaking 2 liters of milk gives around 250gms of paneer.-1 large Lemon or 2-3 tablespoons white vinegar
So, let’s get to it :

1:Put milk to boil, preferably medium flame, try to keep stirring in between.(I had taken 2 liters of full cream milk and this will make approx 250 gm of paneer.)

2:After milk has boiled, turn off the flame and add juice of 1 large lemon or 2 tablespoons of white vinegar…the estimate about how much lemon or vinegar will be used is just approximate, as it also depends on the quality of milk, it’s just that you need to add some amount and keep stirring the milk and once to see the milk has started to curdle, turn off the heat.3: Put a muslin cloth on a strainer or sieve.4: Filter out the curdled milk on the strainer.

5: Squeeze the extra water out of the muslin cloth and cover it with a heavy pot or pan.6: Leave it aside for a couple of hours with the weight still on it.7: Lift off the weight after a couple of hours and open the muslin cloth slowly, you will see yummy paneer.

8: Keep the paneer in the refrigerator for around 20-30 mins to make it a bit harder.

9: take the paneer out of the fridge, now it’s ready to use, just cut into pieces and use!

I’m sharing the pic of my favorite “Paneer Salad” which is super easy to make, Just add a few diced cucumber, bell peppers & tomatoes to crumbled paneer (you may add a few sunflower seeds and salad leaves to make it extra healthy).
